Active Hope: How Do We Meet This Moment Together?
A guided exploration of uncertainty, belonging, and our capacity to shape what comes next.
We are living through a time of profound change. Across our societies, communities, and personal lives, familiar structures are shifting, uncertainty is growing, and the future can feel increasingly difficult to imagine.
Many of us carry a mixture of concern, grief, exhaustion, and longing for something different. We want to respond meaningfully to what is happening around us, yet it's easy to feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure where to begin.
What if hope is something we create through how we show up, connect, and participate?
Active Hope, a concept developed by Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone, invites us to see hope as something we practice, even when the outcome remains uncertain.
It begins with acknowledging the world as it is, honoring what we feel, and remembering that we are part of something larger than ourselves.
In this Voices of Emergence Community Circle, we'll come together to explore what it means to remain present, connected, and capable of meaningful action in uncertain times.
Through guided reflection, shared inquiry, and small-group dialogue, we'll explore questions such as:
How are we experiencing this moment, individually and collectively?
What happens when we make room for our grief, concern, and uncertainty rather than pushing them aside?
How might connection and belonging help us recover our sense of possibility?
What becomes possible when we move from helplessness toward participation?
What to expect
This 90-minute gathering offers a welcoming space for reflection, authentic conversation, and collective exploration.
We'll begin by arriving and grounding ourselves, then move into guided practices inspired by Joanna Macy's Work That Reconnects, followed by shared reflection and dialogue.
There is no pressure to have answers, offer solutions, or share more than feels comfortable.
Come as you are, with whatever this moment is bringing up for you.
