Telangana Association of Florida (TGFL) Bonalu - 2026
Bonalu is an annual festival celebrated across Telangana. It is celebrated in the month of Ashada(July/August). The festival is also considered a thanksgiving to the Goddess for fulfillment of vows.
The word Bonam means Bhojanam, which means a meal or a feast in Telugu, is an Offering to Mother Goddess. Women prepare rice cooked with milk and jaggery, and place it in a Pot adorned with Neem Leaves, Turmeric, Kumkuma(Vermilion) and a lit Deepam(Oil Lamp) on the top of the Pot. Devotees carry the pots on their heads and make an offering of Bonam along with Turmeric-Vermilion, Bangles, Vodi Biyyam and Saree to the Mother Goddess across the Temples.
Bonam Offering:
All are welcome to prepare Bonam, you can either prepare at home or at the event location. TGFL will provide Neem Leaves and Bonam Prasadam. You can get your own pots or else please contact Event committee for buying pots. Please sign up for Bonam.
If you are interested in offering Vodi Biyyam. Saree or any other kind of offering for goddess are welcomed.
