About Event

Human science used to study people in snapshots: a lab visit, a survey, a blood draw. Wearables now record physiology continuously, in daily life, for months. AI lets researchers explore that data without an engineering team. What a human study can be is changing fast.

Academia and industry are both learning how to work with this, and mostly learning separately. Future of Human Science puts them in one room. Leading researchers and the companies building their tools share what they have found, what has not worked, and where they think the field goes next.

Featured speakers

Dr. Chung-Kang Peng, co-founder of PhysioNet, the NIH-supported open platform for physiological data. Founding director, Center for Dynamical Biomarkers, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School. Chief Professor, Southeast University. Physicist and pioneer of nonlinear analysis of biomedical signals.

Dr. Albert Yang, Chair, School of Medicine, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. Deputy Director, Medical AI Development Center, Taipei Veterans General Hospital. Psychiatrist and computational neuroscientist with over 220 publications, leading a national AI grant on digital medicine and smart healthcare.

Dr. Laura Willinger, Business Development Manager, Research and Clinical Trials, Garmin Health. Health scientist (Dr. rer. nat., Technical University of Munich). On how a device company approaches research: validation, access, and what researchers ask for that does not exist yet.

Chris Peng, Co-founder and CEO, Labfront. Spent years in research labs before founding companies, and has carried that frustration with how human studies get run into Labfront, the physiological data platform now used by researchers at 200 academic institutions. Serial founder with a software engineering background; has raised over US$3 million; also Co-founder and COO of The Connection Company. Hosting the afternoon and sharing Labfront's vision for where human science goes next.

Also on the afternoon

  • 2026 Labfront x Garmin Health Research Grant Ceremony

  • Garmin Health hands-on booth: try the research devices, ask the team

  • Panel: speakers from academia and industry discuss how AI is changing the practice of research

  • Pitch competition: pitch the study you would run if the devices were free, in two minutes. Winners take home Garmin devices.

  • An hour of networking across institutions, disciplines, and the academia–industry line

Who it's for

Faculty, clinicians, postdocs and graduate students working with physiological data in sleep, breathing, heart rate, sports science, medicine, public health and related fields. Industry teams who build for researchers and want to hear from them directly. No wearable experience needed.

*Tickets Priced in USD. The actual events / speakers might changed depending on the planning.

Future of Human Science

  • 專題演講:Chung-Kang Peng(PhysioNet 共同創辦人、哈佛醫學院)、Albert Yang(國立陽明交通大學、臺北榮民總醫院)、Laura Willinger(Garmin Health)、Chris Peng(Labfront)

  • Labfront x Garmin Health

  • Garmin Health
