Harness in Motion - Shibari Workshop with Dasniya Sommers

​Join us for a night of creating connection and immersing yourself into one of Japan’s most important art forms. Led by practitioner and dancer Dasniya Sommer, this community-driven workshop is designed for beginners and bondage fans alike. Dasniya combines her long-term shibari practice with a dancer’s toolbox, using rope harnesses as anchor points to subvert classic top-bottom dynamics. We will focus on rope technique and partner work as Dasniya guides you through. Please arrive early as space will be limited. Just bring yourself, everything else will be provided for you. Entrance is donation-based and open to all.

​Dasniya Sommer is a Berlin-based choreographer, dancer and teacher who works in the range from performance to photography, from Japanese shibari to classical ballet. She examines movement and image from the perspective of the dancer. She offers private classes at ‘Haus Sommer’ her studio in Uferhallen Kulturwerkstatt, and in the past at ImPulsTanz Vienna, Lismore’s Queer-Community/Australia, and Braunschweig University of Art. For 20 years, Dasniya has practiced Japanese shibari/bondage, stretching performative aesthetic categories and making shibari accessible to a wider and intersectional community.
