Pacifica Means Peace - Beginning with Bold Imaginings
Pacifica Means Peace is a participatory futures project, to bring global citizens together to envision a peaceful co-existence in the Pacific Rim, in particular between China and the USA.
Ignorance abounds as pundits and think tanks anticipate war between China and the USA, accompanied with state sabre-rattling.
But, in the wise words of Noam Chomsky, any real conflict between the nuclear armed countries is INSANITY, and a recipe for Mutually Assured Destruction (quite literally it is MAD).
Time to put the future in the hands of global citizens who have much saner imaginations, who can imagine a lasting peace and respectful coexistence between the nations.
This free event is the start of the project. In this session we will:
Explain the key project ideas
Explore the values we have with respect to peace in the pacific region
Imagine what peace would look like
Create a vision of a peaceful co-existence that can be shared with others
What you need to know about the session:
It will last 2 hours
It will be the first of a number of sessions this year
You are welcome to ask questions about the methods, as we expect people will come who are also just interested in learning about visioning and participatory futures
The session will be recorded and transcribed and this will be made public (those who don't want to be identified should not participate)
The project is run by Dr. Jose Ramos and Dr. Jeanne Hoffman. They will facilitate the session.
