βThe first-ever Catskill Crew: Social Studies event is here β and we're kicking it off in style.
βWe're being graced by the incredible, brilliant, and inspiringβ¦ BRANT MACDUFF for a riveting lecture on the History of Taxidermy.
βTake a journey through the quirky and intriguing history of taxidermy, it's stranger, richer, and more entangled with conservation than most people realize.
βOver the course of an hour, Brant will walk us through the art, the science, the politics, and the long parade of eccentric weirdos who built this craft into what it is today β and there will be a wild story to go with every slide.
βThis lecture promises to be both entertaining and informative, shedding light on how taxidermy intertwines history and conservation.
βAbout Brant: Brant MacDuff is a conservation & taxidermy historian who studies and writes about wildlife conservation strategy & economics. He recently launched his book, The Shotgun Conservationist, and just got back from Mongolia β where he was studying how "safari style" economics benefit wildlife and people in the western Altai mountain range. He also (lucky for us) keeps a home here in the Catskills.
β30% off your room at Arnold House on May 8th and May 9th using the code: CATSKILLCREW
βCome on out for a night of curiosity, conversation, and something a little different. Arrive early and grab a drink. Stick around after, order some dinner, sip something and chat about what we all just learned.
βSee ya out there.
