Village Heartbeat — Friction Fire & Community Connection
Village Heartbeat — Friction Fire & Community Connection
Something shifts when you make fire by hand.
Not because it's a survival skill. Because it activates something ancient. A deep understanding of Fire and how it works with the other elements.
On May 23rd, we're gathering on the shores of Ella Beach to do something simple and ancient: make fire together, using nothing but local wood, a bow, and the people around us.
How it works
We form small teams. Each person takes a role. No one can do it without the others. We'll practice teamwork.
When the coal finally appears, the whole group gathers around. It takes the collective breath of the village — slow, gentle, together — to turn that ember into a flame.
What to expect
Working with local materials: Sooke Cedar and Balsam Fir
Guided by spaceholders Jorge & Manuel
Shared snacks and water provided
Good for all ages — children, elders, everyone in between
No experience needed. Just show up.
This is a free community event. It's not a class. It's not a performance. It's an afternoon where strangers become teammates, and neighbours remember what a village actually feels like.
