HACK THE FUTURE: Smart Batangas Province Hackathon

Official Mechanics, Theme, Prize Pool, and Program Flow


Theme: Smart Batangas Province

Build innovative solutions that help Batangas become smarter, safer, more connected, and future-ready — covering community services, disaster response, local governance, transportation, environment, tourism, and more.


Prize Pool — $500 Total

Made possible by OpenGuild/Polkadot

  • 1st Place — $250

  • 2nd Place — $150

  • 3rd Place — $100


Hackathon Mechanics

1. Allowed Tech Tracks

Teams may choose one or combine multiple tracks:

A. Design Thinking

  • Problem mapping

  • User personas

  • Solution ideation

  • Rapid prototyping

B. Coding with AI

  • AI-assisted development (coding agents or copilots)

  • AI-generated UI/UX

  • AI-assisted backend scaffolding

  • Must disclose prompts and workflow in the final presentation

C. Solidity Smart Contract with Polkadot

  • Must build a minimal smart contract relevant to the solution

  • Deployment may use testnet

  • Integration to frontend/backend is a plus


2. Team Composition

  • 2–5 members per team

  • Interdisciplinary teams encouraged (developers + creatives + analysts)


3. Deliverables

By the end of Day 1 (Nov 21):

  • Solution name

  • Problem statement

  • Proposed user flow

  • Working prototype (even partial)

  • Testnet smart contract address (if applicable)

  • 2–3 minute pitch summary (raw recording allowed)

For Final Presentation (Nov 22):

  • 5-minute pitch

  • Demo or prototype walkthrough

  • Architecture overview (optional but encouraged)

  • AI workflow explanation

  • Smart contract logic (if used)

  • Q&A with judges


4. Judging Criteria

  • Innovation & Relevance to Smart Batangas — 30%

  • Technical Implementation (AI, Smart Contract, Coding) — 30%

  • Design Thinking Quality — 20%

  • Usability & Feasibility — 10%

  • Pitch & Presentation — 10%

Top 3 Presentation + Announcement of Winners

  • Project polishing

Each team will deliver:

Announcement of Winners & Awarding (1st, 2nd, 3rd place)
