Press Conference - Major Richard Star Act
Following our previous press conference at the Fort Hamilton Main Gate, we are gathering once again and this time at the Manhattan VA Medical Center to continue calling attention to the Major Richard Star Act and voicing concerns about the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act (TCAVA).
We invite advocates, veterans, service organizations, and elected officials to join us in collaboration with a coalition of community leaders, City Council members, and State Assembly representatives.
As a central hub for healthcare and services for thousands of New York City veterans, the Manhattan VA is an important venue to highlight what is at stake: TCAVA would reduce benefits for future soldiers and servicemembers to help fund benefits for past generations. The Major Richard Star Act, by contrast, ensures combat-injured veterans receive the full retirement and disability pay they have earned.
This is a nonpartisan, community- and advocate-driven event. We welcome all organizations and elected officials committed to protecting the benefits promised to those who serve.
If your organization would like to co-sponsor, participate, or have a speaker included, please reach out to us directly.
