In-Class Industry Insight: Solving Crimes with Science

​Join us for an in-class industry insight session with guest speaker Brittney Lato, a Forensic Technical Specialist in the DNA unit at the Centre of Forensic Sciences (CFS). Brittney generates STR profiles from biological evidence recovered at crime scenes to help identify individuals in criminal investigations. Before CFS, she taught at Humber and worked as a teaching assistant for Northeastern's Biotechnology Applications Laboratory course.

​Brittney will pull back the curtain on what forensic science actually looks like day to day, walk through the range of roles at CFS, and map out where a biotech or bioinformatics degree can take you in the field.

​Open to current students and alumni!

​Attending in person: Highly encouraged where possible! Brittney is taking time out of her schedule to connect with students face-to-face. Alumni attending in person need campus access arranged in advance via this form.

​Virtually: Please keep your camera on if possible, join from a quiet space where you can sit upright and engaged, and dress as you would for an in-person professional meeting.
