Resilience and Returns: Investing in Forests as Natural Capital – an exclusive field trip at PRI In Person
Step outside the conference and into an FSC®-certified forest to explore how sustainable forest management generates measurable environmental outcomes while creating long-term investment value. Hosted jointly by FSC Netherlands and the Amsterdamse Bos (Amsterdam City Forest), this field trip combines a guided walk through the forest with practical insights into biodiversity enhancement, natural capital management, and real-world financing models that can help mobilize investment into sustainable forestry and nature positive projects.
Participants will hear directly from Amsterdamse Bos about its biodiversity initiatives, including efforts to enhance pollinator habitats and carbon storage, and learn how sustainable forest management can contribute to nature-positive outcomes. FSC will share insights on proven financing and investment models that support responsible forest stewardship while delivering environmental, social, and economic value.
A coach will depart from and return to the RAI conference centre; exact departure point and time will be confirmed with registered participants.
Organised by: FSC Netherlands, in collaboration with Amsterdamse Bos and colleagues from FSC Investments and Partnerships.
Target audience: Investors, asset owners and sustainability professionals interested in biodiversity finance, natural capital and nature-based investment opportunities within sustainable forestry. Please note that we have limited spaces available.
About FSC®
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is the international standard for responsible forest management, setting environmental, social and economic criteria that certified forests and supply chains must meet. Active in over 90 countries, FSC certification gives investors, companies and consumers a verifiable way to identify wood, paper and forest-derived products that come from forests managed to protect biodiversity, respect the rights of workers and local communities, and maintain forests' long-term ecological and economic value.
About Amsterdamse Bos
Created in the 1930s as a public works project during the Great Depression — with over 20,000 unemployed labourers hand-planting more than 200,000 trees — Amsterdamse Bos is now one of the largest urban forests in Europe at roughly 1,000 hectares, a protected nature reserve three times the size of New York's Central Park. Owned and managed by the City of Amsterdam and FSC®-certified, it combines recreation for over millions of annual visitors with active biodiversity work, including projects on pollinator habitats and urban forest stewardship.
