CEO Roundtable Series — “Bet on Yourself, Even If You Lose It All” with Scott Paul, Partner at Convoi Ventures
Scott Paul has built and sold companies, including one acquired by Disney, and has since backed around 80 early-stage founders. He is a Partner at Convoi Ventures, a Utah-only, community-first pre-seed fund, co-founded Phi, and writes ScottsPosts on Substack. He has written publicly about going from a five-digit net worth to a hundred times that overnight, and about taking no income from either Convoi or Phi.
That is the tidy version. What he wanted put in front of a room of CEOs and owners is harder: when the choice is between investing in something you cannot control and investing in yourself, bet on yourself. Even if that means your retirement savings or the equity in your house. “You may lose it all. Big whoop. I did that several times before I figured it out.”
So this session goes there. What the money did to him once it arrived, and what it does to the people around it. Why he backs founders before the spreadsheet makes the decision safe, and what he reads instead. Why he thinks the companies worth building let people chase their own ambitions and not only the founder’s. And the decisions he says he would make differently.
Not a keynote. A conversation, and you’re in it, then roundtables where you turn the same questions on your own business, with the speaker still in the room. Closed door, nothing recorded. Moderated by Chase Murdock, Founder of Durable.
