Surgical Data Science Collective Colloquium

​We're looking forward to welcoming you to SDSC's upcoming colloquium. The subject of our event is “Teaching AI to Understand Surgery: What we've learned, what we can do, and what comes next," hosted at the National Museum of Mathematics in New York.

​When: 4:00pm–5:45pm. Reception from 5:45pm-7:00pm

​Where: National Museum of Mathematics, 635 6th avenue, New York, 10011. Please note that there are two other events hosted at the museum that day. You’ll find ours at the “Fourth Dimension” classroom space, on Floor 0 (ground floor)

​What to expect: Our event opens with Dan Donoho MD, who’ll share the clinical motivation behind SDSC's mission. We’ll then dive into whether today's AI can truly follow surgery, compare frontier models and surgical foundation models, before showcasing a demo and discussing how we can translate action recognition into real feedback for surgeons. The program will also address unsolved challenges in surgical data science.

​We’re delighted to be joined by XY Han PhD, from the University of Chicago School of Business, who has made many notable contributions to the field as well as Kee Park MD, from Harvard Medical School, a leading expert in global surgery. The evening wraps with networking, food, and drinks starting at 5:45pm.
