About Event

What do the words we use say about how we see a child?

Can a single sentence at the moment of diagnosis shape how a family feels for years?

Can the right words open doors, and the wrong ones close them?

"The Power of Language: Why the Words We Use Matter" is a virtual gathering hosted by the Moyinoluwa Rainbow Down Syndrome Foundation to mark Down Syndrome Awareness Month 2026, celebrated globally under the theme "Together Against Loneliness."

It is a conversation about how thoughtful communication can turn isolation into belonging.

Together, we'll explore how inclusive terminology, practical support systems, and community action can break down barriers and help individuals with Down syndrome and their families feel seen, heard, and connected.

Expect honest stories from parents who have lived the journey, from hurtful words to hopeful ones, along with practical guidance you can use at home, in the classroom, and in the community.

Because language is never just language. It is the first way we say, "You belong."
