About Event

The rebuilding efforts in Altadena and the Palisades are at a critical juncture. Financial gaps and uncertainty remain, but community organizations are persisting through the challenges. Since the fires, leaders have recognized the need for rebuilding with resilience. That goal is rooted in the aspiration to keep the community safe from future fire risk and the economic realities of insurance availability.

But the goal of resilience and the pragmatic steps for how to embed it into the rebuilding process are far apart.

On August 17th, The Resiliency Company is hosting a Funders Forum for philanthropic leaders to hear about the goals, challenges, and progress for rebuilding to be resilient and insurable.

  • An educational grounding session highlighting the invaluable role(s) that philanthropy has already played and could yet play, and learnings from community-based organizations actively involved in driving the rebuild over the past 18 months.

  • A rebuilding site visit to experience the realities of coordinating a resilient rebuild

  • A funder-focused dinner, with a Q&A and light facilitated program and handful of invited partners, to share takeaways and deepen the conversation about philanthropy’s top opportunities to make an impact going forward.

The long-term recovery will take years, and The Resiliency Company is committed to being a durable resource around resilient rebuilding. This forum is an opportunity for a focused dialogue on the implications for how catalytic capital can align with the community's vision for the future.
