Round Table: Understanding Good Governance – Chair and Trustee | 07.10.26 | Bord gron: Deall Llywodraethu Da – Cadeirydd ac Ymddiriedolwr
SCROLL FOR ENGLISH
Mae bod yn gadeirydd ymddiriedolwyr yn gyfrifoldeb personol mawr, ac mae’r rôl yn dod yn fwyfwy anodd - yn enwedig pan ddaw hi i weithio’n effeithiol gyda phrif weithredwyr a thimau uwch-arweinwyr wrth gynnal trosolwg annibynnol y bwrdd.
Bydd y ford gron hon yn dod â chadeiryddion ymddiriedolwyr elusennau o bob cwr o Gymru ynghyd am drafodaeth ddidwyll a arweinir gan gymheiriaid ar realiti llywodraethu da a’r peryglon y mae cadeiryddion yn eu hwynebu wrth gyflawni eu dyletswyddau.
Byddwn yn edrych ar:
Cyfrifoldebau craidd y cadeirydd ar gyfer llywodraethu da, a phwy sy’n atebol pan fydd pethau’n mynd o’i le
Rheoli’r berthynas â’r Prif Swyddog Gweithredol a’r tîm uwch-swyddogion gweithredol — canfod y gydbwysedd rhwng cymorth, her a throsolwg
Cydnabod a rheoli achosion o wrthdaro buddiannau a gwybod pryd i gamu’n ôl
Ymdrin â sgyrsiau anodd, gan gynnwys pryderon perfformio neu golli ffydd yn y tîm gweithredol
Mae hwn yn gyfle i rannu profiadau’n agored gyda chyd-gadeiryddion sy’n wynebu pwysau tebyg, a gadael gydag adnoddau ymarferol ar gyfer cryfhau llywodraethu yn eich mudiad eich hun.
Being a chair of trustees carries significant personal responsibility, and the role is becoming increasingly demanding — particularly where it comes to working effectively with chief executives and senior leadership teams while maintaining the board's independent oversight.
This round table brings together chairs of trustees from charities across Wales for a candid, peer-led discussion on the realities of good governance and the hazards chairs face in discharging their duties.
We will explore:
The chair's core responsibilities for good governance, and where accountability sits when things go wrong
Managing the relationship with the CEO and senior executive team — striking the balance between support, challenge and oversight
Recognising and managing conflicts of interest, and knowing when to step back
Handling difficult conversations, including performance concerns or breakdowns in trust with the executive team
This is an opportunity to share experiences openly with fellow chairs facing similar pressures, and to leave with practical tools for strengthening governance in your own organisation
