CEO Speaker Series — "Nobody Talks About the Messy Middle" with Jon Allen, President of Amplēo
Jon Allen came into Amplēo in 2021 as a fractional CFO. He is now its President and sits on its board, and he runs the team that buys other companies. Amplēo places fractional CFOs, CMOs and CHROs into growing businesses, took on private equity backing from Unity Partners in June 2025, and has announced seven acquisitions in under two years.
That is the tidy version. Jon's answer, when we asked what a room of CEOs and owners actually needs to hear, was the opposite: nobody talks about the messy middle. It is rarely up and to the right. Outward success is deceiving.
So this session goes there. The stretch of Amplēo's own growth he would least like to repeat. What breaks first when you fold seven companies into one brand, and which of brands, systems, comp and titles he now insists on settling before close. What changes about how you run a business once a private equity partner is at the table. And the belief he offered up himself, that relationships beat everything and it is people over results one hundred percent of the time, put next to the seat he actually occupies.
