CIMC Hackathon: Build a Predictive Mirror
At the California Institute for Machine Consciousness (CIMC), we’re developing a computational architecture inspired by the visual cortex. Join us for a hackathon where we'll compete on: building a live mirror generated entirely by an algorithm’s predictions.
Our research brings together self-organizing, distributed systems and action–perception loops, where a system’s perceptions guide its actions, and its actions shape what it perceives next.
The event will begin with a talk about why we’re studying the visual cortex and how this work connects to our broader research questions. We’ll share demos of our progress before we open up the hackathon.
The challenge
Build a software architecture that takes video input (from your webcam, or virtual world) and predicts the next frame.
The goal is a live mirror generating movements in front of the camera. Your system should continuously generate what the camera will see next.
This is an opportunity to experiment with how a system represents a changing scene, learns its dynamics, and predicts what comes next.
Who should join
Engineering experience is required. Hands-on machine learning experience is strongly recommended.
If you’re interested in visual prediction, self-organizing systems, or experimenting with architectures inspired by the brain, come build with us.
