Farmer Turned Innovation Economy Leader w/ Q & A
Neil Mylet is on a mission to transform his hometown of Camden, Indiana—a rural farming town of just 600 people—into a thriving hub for innovation and economic opportunity. A 2008 Purdue graduate in Agricultural Economics with a Certificate in Entrepreneurship, Neil is addressing the unique challenges of rural communities, including poverty, limited job opportunities, and inadequate internet access.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Neil realized the critical need for better infrastructure when he had to drive 45 minutes to upload a video. This experience inspired him to launch a tech hub and coworking space in Camden’s historic 18,000-square-foot Opera House. The project will provide high-speed internet, job opportunities, remote internships, and mentorship, connecting Camden’s talent to startups nationwide. With renovations projected to exceed $1 million, Neil is building the partnerships and resources to ensure long-term economic sustainability and create a model for other rural communities.
I’ll be interviewing Neil for an exciting Q&A on building innovation economies in towns big and small—don’t miss this inspiring conversation about turning challenges into transformative opportunities!
