About Event

Attention is one of the most important conditions for learning. But simply presenting information doesn’t mean students are attending to it. So how can we design instruction that makes attention to the right things, at the right time, far more likely?

In this free 45-minute session, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A, Jamie explores three core principles for designing instruction around attention: securing attention before important information arrives, directing attention towards what matters, and orchestrating attention as learning unfolds.

Drawing on research from cognitive science and classroom practice, the session translates the science of attention into practical strategies teachers can use straight away.

📘 EXCLUSIVE PLAYBOOK: Everyone who stays until the end will receive access to Jamie’s new Teaching for Attention playbook — a comprehensive, evidence-informed resource featuring practical strategies, examples, diagrams and downloadable tools for PD.

The central idea is simple: attention isn’t something we simply ask students to give us. It’s something we can deliberately design instruction to secure, direct and orchestrate.
