Rooted & Rising : A Women's Day Walk with Gaia - A Nature Walk, Somatic Reset & Drum Circle in Golden Gate Park
There is something ancient in us that remembers, the feel of earth underfoot, the rhythm of a drum, the quiet power of moving through nature in community and human connection. On this International Women's Day, we invite you to come back to that remembering.
⎒ Rooted & Rising is the first in a series of embodied community events honoring Gaia, the Divine Feminine, and the wisdom that lives in our bodies and in the natural world.
We'll gather in the Inner Richmond and move together through the living cathedral of Golden Gate Park, breathing, sensing, connecting , and allowing nature to do what it does best: regulate, restore, and remind us of who we are.
This walk is intentionally slow. It's not about distance, it's about presence. We'll move with somatic awareness, noticing what the body feels as it meets the earth, the trees, the air. Our nervous systems were shaped in nature; this is a return.
⦿ We close with a drum circle – one of humanity's oldest technologies for collective healing, community building, and calling in the sacred. Let the rhythm move through you.
What to Expect
❖ The Walk: A guided nature walk through Golden Gate Park with somatic prompts and moments of stillness to help you drop out of your head and into your body. No experience necessary. Just bring your senses.
❀ The Drum Circle: We close the journey in a circle at Hippie Hill, with drumming to ground us, energize us, and celebrate the pulse of life.
♡ The Intention — This event sits at the intersection of neuroscience, somatic practice, and experiencing the connection with ancient wisdom. Our three co-hosts bring backgrounds in executive coaching & Somatic Experiencing, neuroscience & Reiki, and human connection research, weaving modern science with timeless practice.

About the Hosts
Uma is the founder of Tathya, a coaching platform that combines executive coaching with nervous system regulation using Somatic Experiencing methods. She brings nearly 17 years of software engineering leadership at Slack, Meta, and Amazon.
Amelia Hanley is a Reiki practitioner and facilitator working at the intersection of wellness technology, behavioral health, and neuroscience. With a background in dementia and Alzheimer’s care, her work is rooted in a deep reverence for presence, awareness, and the sacredness of memory. She integrates science of the mind with embodied spiritual practice, creating spaces that feel both grounded and expansive. A believer in nature-based activations as portals for connection, Amelia will be guiding our walk and co-facilitating this gathering in honor of the divine feminine and conscious community.
Cigdem is a communication strategist, technology and culture writer, and media entrepreneur based in San Francisco.
