About Event

Your kid asks for money for everything — a toy, an app, a "can I just have $5" — and you're making it up as you go. You want them to grow up financially confident, but nobody handed you a script, and the sit-down "let's talk about money" lecture never actually happens.

In this workshop, financial coach and former personal finance teacher Crystal Janis shares practical, real-world strategies for teaching kids about money. From allowance and budgeting to saving, investing, and building healthy money beliefs, parents will learn how to turn everyday moments into powerful money lessons that prepare their kids for a lifetime of financial success.

What you'll walk away with:

  • A simple, age-by-age approach to allowance, budgeting, and money conversations

  • How to turn everyday moments into real money lessons

  • The money beliefs kids form before age 10, and how to shape them on purpose

  • A no-guilt framework for saving, spending, and giving that actually sticks

  • Real scripts and phrases you can use with your kid this week

Meet your speaker

Crystal Rigley Janis is a money coach, educator, and former personal finance teacher, and the founder of Teach Teens Money and Dreamz on Fire Money Coaching. She's spent years helping teens (and the parents raising them) build real financial confidence, from their first allowance to their first paycheck. Her approach: kids don't need a lecture about money. They need the right moment and the right words — and Crystal teaches parents exactly how to find both.

Meet your host

Nena Djaja is the founder of Learning Lot, on a mission to help kids drive their own learning by following what actually excites them — with inspiring tutors who act more like guides, just as excited about the same things as the kids they teach. She started Learning Lot in the Bay Area to give parents a better option than traditional tutoring: small groups, real conversations, and kids who get to lead with their own curiosity, and thrive because of it.
