Hands On History Class
Love chocolate? Interested in cacao?
Come to this hands on history class.
We will toast the beans together and then take off the outer shell so we can grind cacao beans the old fashioned way, on volcanic stones.
We will drink chocolate and learn about the early history and uses of cacao and chocolate.
This will be a fun hands on class, not a lecture.
Learn. Eat. Enjoy.
Have you ever tried cacao lavado or tried a traditional frothy chocolate drink from Mexico?
I recently spent two weeks furthering my chocolate education in Oaxaca. One lovely experience was spending the day with Carina, the mother of the owner of Sobre Masa in Brooklyn. We drove out to Teotitlan del Valle, a town 45 minutes from Oaxaca and spent the day learning to make chocolatole.
