​Interregional Dialogue between the African Alliance for People-Centered Justice (AAPCJ) and the Ibero-American Alliance for Access to Justice

​The workshop is designed to achieve the following objectives:

• ​Build a shared understanding of what transitional justice means in practice and of where it intersects with the people-centered justice approach.

• ​Explore the regional contexts and challenges that shape the progress of transitional justice in each region, including what fell outside the scope of its mechanisms.

• ​Incorporate the gender approach as a matter of institutional design: how mechanisms with gender competence are built, and under what conditions women and LGBTIQ+ people participate as active subjects rather than merely as a beneficiary population.

• ​Address forensic identification as a concrete realization of the right to truth, considering the institutional and regulatory conditions needed to sustain the search for and identification of missing persons.

• ​Share concrete implementation cases, including what worked, what didn't, and what other contexts can learn.

• ​Learn from the approaches and experiences of the other region, identifying common operating principles beyond differences in trajectory.

• ​Agree on a joint outcome and verifiable commitments that extend beyond the session.
