About Event

Join our monthly meetup of the XMGlobal Collaborative Michigan Chapter in Lansing — a relaxed evening for people who care about Experience Management, customer experience, employee experience, service design, human-centered design, and organizational change.

Whether you're leading XM initiatives, exploring new ideas, or simply looking to connect with others who enjoy talking shop, this is a chance to share perspectives, learn from one another, and build connections with fellow experience professionals.

No presentations. No sales pitches. Just good conversation, fresh ideas, and a welcoming group of people who enjoy thinking about how experiences can be made better.

This is a pay-as-you-go dinner, so simply come hungry for great food and even better conversation.

This month's discussion:

The Value of Experience: Lost in Translation?

Organizations often talk about improving customer satisfaction, employee engagement, efficiency, and trust. Yet the research, human-centered design, and experience management practices that help achieve these outcomes aren't always understood or prioritized in the same way.

Even the word "design" can create confusion. While many associate it with visual aesthetics, human-centered design is a research-driven, iterative approach to understanding people, identifying problems, and developing solutions. When the language we use doesn't reflect the full scope of our work, does its value get lost in translation?

How do we explain what we do in ways that resonate with leadership and connect to organizational priorities? Are the terms we use helping others understand our work, or unintentionally creating misconceptions? And how can we communicate its value without losing the principles that make it effective?

Whether your work focuses on customers, employees, patients, citizens, or the teams behind those experiences, come share what's worked, what's been challenging, and how we can better communicate the value of experience and human-centered design.
