‘Surara' Private Screening + Q&A with director Lea Hejn and impact campaign by Treesistance

​Synopsis - Set deep in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon, this poetic and gripping short-thriller unfolds through the voices of a chief, a teacher, and a shaman of the Borari people. Through dramatic re-creation and exclusive archive, we are on the front line with the Borari forest guardians in their struggle to defend their ancestral land against logging companies.

​The film captures the story of the forest guardians and the creation of a powerful, Indigenous-led resistance movement determined to keep the forest standing. It is both a tribute to the Borari’s extraordinary resilience and a call for global solidarity.

​Event - Recent winner of the prestigious Santiago Wild 'Guardians in action' category and the 'Jury award at the Las Américas Film festival' this private screening, is an opportunity to see the film at the beginning of its festival journey.

​The film will be followed by a Q&A with the director, Lea Hejn and Marco van der Ree, Advisory Board member of Treesistance, the NGO working with the guardians. This will be a space for conversation about the film, the guardian’s work, Treesistance's impact campaign and what it takes to keep the Amazonian forest standing.
