Building the Infrastructure for Climate Education in Massachusetts: A Working Roundtable
Massachusetts is at a pivotal moment for climate education, and passing legislation is only the beginning.
With H.560 / S.391 under active consideration, this roundtable style event will bring together a small, cross-sector group of educators, students, administrators, policy leaders, universities, organizations, and funders to move from awareness to coordinated action.
Together, we'll work to identify the concrete steps needed to build the infrastructure for meaningful climate education implementation statewide, both in preparation for the proposed legislation and through complementary strategies that strengthen climate literacy across Massachusetts.
The proposed legislation would:
Create an Interdisciplinary Climate Literacy Trust Fund to support curriculum development, professional learning, and technical assistance for districts
Establish a Statewide Interdisciplinary Climate Literacy Advisory Council at DESE to provide research-based, equitable guidance
Potentially support the development of district climate literacy plans
This is a working session designed to help stakeholders get aligned and ready so that if and when legislation passes, Massachusetts can take immediate action.
Space is limited. This event is by invitation only.
