The program is currently prioritizing projects across three groups:
Group 1: Non-Traditional PV Optimization ($3M total; $1M–2.5M awards)
RD&D on agrivoltaic, floatovoltaic, solar canal, roadway, and brownfield sites, including energy and co-benefit quantification; field pilot required
Group 2: Site Assessment and Permitting ($1.5M total; $500K–1M awards)
Automated tools for site assessment and data integration using drone, ground survey, and feasibility study methods for siting, permitting, and interconnection planningGroup 3: O&M Optimization ($1.5M total; $500K–1M awards)
Open-source AI/ML tools for predictive maintenance, fault detection, and performance monitoring, including deployment guidelines; onsite testing at operational plant required
