The STEP Revolution: Building UK Fusion In The East Midlands

​The UK’s ambition to deliver commercial fusion through the STEP programme represents one of the most significant long-term energy innovation projects in Europe. This session will explore how fusion is moving from scientific breakthrough to industrial strategy, examining the role of public investment, private capital, supply chain development, and place-based growth in delivering a globally competitive fusion ecosystem. The session will explore what has to happen to make fusion a commercially viable part of the UK’s energy system and how that is being pursued.
