Olio Hudson Valley: Hedonism, The Erotic, & Our Relationship to Pleasure
Think Olio is an ongoing experiment in alternative adult learning to encourage curiosity, creative living, and face-to-face conversation.
We design Olios with professors, artists, and therapists to help you skip the small talk and make interesting, meaningful connections.
Doors open at 7pm and Olio starts at 7:30pm.
Inspired by the work of Audre Lorde and Anne Carson, we will explore the powerful act of pleasure-seeking as a life-giving means of cultivating joy and resilience against the backdrop of today’s complex world. Together, we will discuss a poem about hedonism; listen to a talk on the power of the erotic; and gain new perspectives on our own relationships to each as we write poetry and prose dedicated to pleasure and how it can transform our worlds.
This Olio was designed by Chelsea Fonden, a poet, community-based teaching artist, resiliency trainer, and fan of pleasure. She specializes in creating and facilitating dynamic, engaging workshops and one-on-one coaching experiences that inspire, delight, and connect folks more deeply to themselves and their dreams.

About the Olio Experience:
Olios are a shared exploration of the arts and humanities in living rooms around the world. An Olio is a space that celebrates the wisdom of each individual and our collective genius. Without a central facilitator, Olios thrive on group participation and every gathering is unique.
This is a do-it-yourself (DIY) Olio, signifying the absence of a central teacher. As a group, we will follow the lesson plan to facilitate our conversations and activities.
