“The House rejects the notion that early release is the solution to Britain's prison problem.”

​​​​Potential Areas For Discussion

​​​​Proposition

  • Letting people free who have not served their sentence is not justice for the victims of their crimes.

  • The solution is to build more prisons.

  • Early release poses a danger to society.

​​​​Opposition

  • This is a short term solution to a bigger problem.

  • We can't afford to build prisons at the moment.

  • There are measures that can be taken to mitigate reoffending from released prisoners.
