About Event

What happens when we give a cup of tea our full attention?

Join us for a small afternoon gathering in a San Francisco living room, with guided tea practice, mindfulness meditation, and a relaxed reading circle—all in English.

We’ll begin with around 30 minutes of Chan tea practice, taking time to notice the warmth of the cup, the aroma of the tea, and the simple experience of being here.

From there, we’ll explore “Go Drink Tea!”, a short story about Chan Master Zhaozhou, through reading and conversation. What might this simple invitation have to do with how we meet everyday life?

What to expect

  • A guided tea experience to settle in.

  • Gentle mindfulness meditation.

  • A short English reading and open discussion.

  • Space to ask questions and share what you noticed.

Whether you already meditate or are simply curious about tea, mindfulness, or Eastern philosophy, you’re welcome. No prior knowledge of Buddhism or preparation is needed. Our gathering draws on the Chan Buddhist tradition, with an approachable, experiential introduction.

A small circle We have room for four guests. Please tell us a little about what draws you to the gathering when you register. Registration is subject to host approval; your place is confirmed once approved. If the circle fills, you can join the waitlist.

Sunday, September 20, 2026 · 1–3 PM PDT Private residence · San Francisco, CA 94105 Exact address shared with confirmed guests.
