About Event

COP31 is weeks away. After a year of climate impacts and energy insecurity, the case for moving away from fossil fuels has never been clearer, and electrification paired with renewables is the fastest way to get there.

Ahead of the summit, Subak brings together co-hosts Trifecta Energy, TransitionZero, Ember, and EnergyTag, along with Irish Government Ministers and EU Representatives 'to focus on what's needed at COP31.

In one hour, you’ll hear:

  • The evidence: where global electrification stands, and what 35 by 35 means for transport, heating, bills and energy security.

  • The plan: how governments can plan clean power, grids and flexibility to keep electrification affordable and reliable.

  • The fix: why European industry isn’t electrifying, how hard-to-hedge power prices make investment risky, and which market reforms (from round-the-clock clean power to hybrid PPAs and smarter auctions) could de-risk that investment.

  • The ask: what a strong COP31 outcome looks like for Ireland and the EU, and what must not be traded away.

  • The message for COP31: Eamon Ryan, former Minister for Environment and Climate, and Darragh O’Brien, Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment, on what can be carried into the negotiations.

Speakers

  • Kevin O'Sullivan, moderator, former Environment and Climate Editor, The Irish Times

  • Ajita Mishra, Head of Market Development, TransitionZero

  • Killian Daly, Executive Director, EnergyTag

  • Dave Jones, co-founder and Chief Analyst, Ember

  • Lesley O’Connor, Founder and Executive Chair, Trifecta Energy

  • Eamon Ryan, former Irish Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications

  • Darragh O'Brien, Irish Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment and Minister for Transport

About the co-hosts

  • Subak strengthens the connective infrastructure of the climate movement, equipping it with the skills, knowledge, spaces and networks it needs to influence policy, shift narratives and accelerate climate resilience and regeneration. The co-hosting organisations are members of Subak's community - putting collaborative climate action first.

  • Trifecta Energy is a non-profit energy think tank working towards an energy-independent, fossil-free Europe.

  • Ember is a global energy think tank that aims to accelerate the clean energy transition with data and policy.

  • EnergyTag is an independent clean energy non-profit, combining technical expertise in round-the-clock clean power with policy advocacy to make electricity cleaner, more affordable and more reliable.

  • TransitionZero is a climate tech non-profit that provides energy system modelling data, software and analysis to support energy transition planning.
