β€‹βš‘ TPCYYC FREESTYLE RULES

READ THIS BEFORE REGISTERING.

If you register for this tournament, you are agreeing to play by TPCYYC Freestyle rules.

This is NOT traditional pickleball scoring.

We play our own format because we want the games to move faster, keep everyone involved and make every position count.

THE GOLDEN RULE:

EVERY POSITION = 1 POINT.

That’s it.

You do NOT need to win the serve to score.

You do NOT need to be serving to score.

Every completed position/rally results in a point for the team that wins it.

EXAMPLES

β€‹πŸ“ You win the rally β†’ Your team gets 1 point.

β€‹πŸ“ Opponent hits the ball out β†’ Your team gets 1 point.

β€‹πŸ“ Opponent hits the net β†’ Your team gets 1 point.

β€‹πŸ“ Opponent commits a fault β†’ Your team gets 1 point.

β€‹πŸ“ You commit a fault β†’ Their team gets 1 point.

β€‹πŸ“ You serve and lose the rally β†’ They get the point.

There is no β€œside out” scoring.

Every position matters.

WHY DO WE PLAY THIS WAY?

Because it keeps the games moving.

More points matter.
More rallies matter.
More players stay involved.

And nobody has to sit there waiting for their team to win the serve back.

β€‹πŸ† TOURNAMENT FORMAT

The tournament format will depend on the number of teams registered, but every team is guaranteed a minimum of 4 games.

β€‹πŸ“ 6–7 TEAMS

With 6–7 teams registered, we’ll play a Round Robin format, where every team plays against the other teams.

After round-robin play, the top 4 teams will advance to the playoffs.

β€‹πŸ† Semifinals β†’ Championship

β€‹πŸ“ 8+ TEAMS

With 8 or more teams, we’ll use Pool Play, dividing teams into groups.

Teams will play within their pool, with standings determined by wins and point differential.

The top teams from each pool will advance to a single-elimination playoff bracket.

β€‹πŸ† Playoffs β†’ Semifinals β†’ Championship

Regardless of the number of teams, our goal is to make sure everyone gets plenty of time on the court, with a minimum of 4 games guaranteed per team.

The final tournament structure and schedule will be announced once registration closes and the total number of teams is confirmed.

β€‹βš οΈ IMPORTANT

TPCYYC Freestyle is the format for this tournament.

You are agreeing to these rules when you register.

If traditional pickleball scoring is what you’re looking for, this may not be the tournament for you β€” and that’s completely okay.

But once you’re on the court, TPCYYC Freestyle is the format.

The referee’s decision during play is final.

No arguing over the scoring system.

No β€œthat’s not how pickleball works.”

You signed up for TPCYYC Freestyle. 😎

.

β€‹πŸ“ COMPETITION STARTS PROMPTLY AT 8:00 PM

Please be on time.

We want to keep the tournament running smoothly and make sure everyone gets their guaranteed games.

β€‹πŸ›‘οΈ SAFETY & PARTICIPATION

Pickleball is a physical sport and, like any physical activity, there is a risk of injury.

By registering and participating, you acknowledge that you are participating voluntarily and accept the normal risks associated with playing pickleball, including but not limited to falls, collisions, strains, sprains and other injuries.

Participants are responsible for playing within their own abilities and should notify the organizers if they are unable to safely continue playing.

TPCYYC and its organizers are not responsible for injuries, loss or damage to personal belongings, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

β€‹πŸ“Έ PHOTO & VIDEO

Photography and video will be taken throughout the tournament for TPCYYC social media, promotional content and event recaps.

If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please let a TPCYYC organizer know before the event.

By registering, you confirm that you have read and agreed to the tournament rules, format, pricing, weather policy and participation terms.

πŸ₯’ THE FIRST ONE

This isn’t just about winning.

It’s about the community we’ve been building.

The games.
The competition.
The laughs.
The trash talk.
The sportsmanship.
The people you meet.

And now…

the first names going on the TPCYYC Trophy.
