The Art of Dialogue | Workshops for Connection
The Art of Dialogue
It is easy to connect with people who already see the world like we do. But what happens when they don’t?
We all carry different experiences, values, assumptions, identities and ways of seeing the world. And when those differences appear in conversation, it can be tempting to defend, withdraw, convince, or simply stop listening.
But dialogue asks something different from us.
The Art of Dialogue is a free, guided evening exploring how we can meet one another with more curiosity, empathy and openness, especially when our experiences or perspectives are not the same.
Rather than learning through a long lecture, we will practise through real conversations, guided exercises and small-group experiences. Together, we’ll explore things like deep listening, asking better questions, noticing our assumptions and reactions, staying curious through discomfort, and understanding the person behind a perspective.
This is not a debate club, and nobody is expected to defend their beliefs or convince anyone of anything.
The aim is to learn how to stay in conversation without losing either our curiosity or ourselves.
What you can expect
Guided dialogue and connection exercises
Small-group conversations
Practising active listening and curiosity
Exploring assumptions, empathy and different perspectives
Tools for navigating moments of disagreement or discomfort
Reflection, play and opportunities to meet new people
No pressure to debate, disclose, or have the “right” answer
You do not need to be good at difficult conversations.
You do not need to be particularly outgoing.
You do not need to prepare anything.
The evening will be carefully guided from beginning to end, creating enough structure to feel supported and enough openness for genuine encounters to happen.
Come curious. Listen a little differently. Ask the question you normally might not ask. And perhaps leave understanding someone you did not expect to understand.
