Can Primary Care Control Specialty Spend? A Conversation with Leaders of Marathon Health and Lantern
The promise of value-based care models in primary care setting are largely bets that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, somewhat more tactically that these primary care providers can help their patients better navigate the health system. So far, the returns to these investments have been illusive, in part because so much of spending happens on specialty care.
A recent announcement from Marathon Health and Lantern caught HTN's eye because it is taking a slightly different tack: pairing Marathon's primary care providers with to Lantern's specialty network.
HTN's Kevin O'Leary will sit down with Marathon CEO Chris Pricco and Lantern President Dickon Waterfield to discuss whether pairing primary care with a high-value specialty network can meaningfully bend specialty spend as well as what the partnership signals about where employer health care is heading.
What we'll cover:
How the Marathon–Lantern partnership works
Early results and proof points
Calibrating member potential member abrasion and the DPC-patient relationship
Looking at the broader market, and where the partnership is going next
Live event open to everyone, replay and transcript exclusively available for HTN Pros.
