History of Sound Baths:

The history of using sound for wellness dates back thousands of years, and is an ancient practice with roots in Greek and Egyptian cultures. Old world physicians would use musical instruments tuned to certain frequencies to help heal the sick, treat mental disturbances, aid in digestion, and promote good sleep. Sound also has healing roots in Native American culture, and healing songs and rhythms have been passed down from generation to generation. Shamanic healers from Mongolia and Tibet have use rattles, drums and vocal tuning since the beginning of recorded history.

Benefits of a Sound Bath:

Sound is highly effective for helping you achieve a state of healing relaxation or a deeper state of meditation. In our fast paced world, finding time to relax and recharge is more important than ever. Sound is also said to have the ability to help the body clear out emotional blockages from past trauma and release stress from the body. Many report finding inner peace or feeling centered.  Sound Therapy has been said to naturally help with stress, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, sleep disorders, high blood pressure, pain, trauma, and individuals with sensory processing problems, such as Autism.

What to Expect at a Sound Bath:

Before we begin, it’s a good idea to use the restroom. You may bring a waterbottle. This is a seated SoundBath, and will be blended with breath segments and sound. Most people prefer meditate, pray, do deep breathing, stretch, stand up or even just “go within” during the sound segments. Your practitioner will sit as well as walk around during the sound bath to play certain instruments. Every person has a different experience after a SoundBath. Many report feeling the sound move through them and settling over certain areas of the body. Some feel heat or experience a cooling sensation to a painful area. Some experience memories or emotions that bring them to tears, and some see colors and feel as if they are floating on water. The experience is unique. Everyone reports feeling lighter.

Tips for getting the most from your experience:

-Come with an open mind.

-Drink water on the day of the bath; Sound waves travel better through water. When you are well hydrated, you will have a better experience. Feel free to bring a water bottle with you.

-During the bath, be aware of your breath and the sensations present in your body.

-Be present in the moment
