It has been over a year since USAID's dismantling, marked by significant loss of staff, awards, and conservation funding. Co-hosted by the Biodiversity Funders Group, this roundtable brings together two connected efforts: Momentum for the Environment, which has documented what was lost, and Reimagining Global Conservation, which is developing practical options for how the U.S. can re-engage in global conservation going forward.
Join us for a candid conversation designed to help philanthropy better understand the landscape, reflect on what has changed, and consider where funders may want to engage next. The session will open with findings from Momentum for the Environment on what USAID's model made possible and what was lost, followed by an introduction to Reimagining Global Conservation's forward-looking scenario and playbook work. We'll close with a discussion among funders about lessons learned and what effective future engagement could look like.
