Our guest, Alex Irpan, a Senior Research Scientist at Google DeepMind, will talk about the current state of robotics and the challenges that researchers must overcome to create general purpose robots.
As Alex says, robot learning is at an inflection point, with many believing widespread generalist robots will appear by the end of the decade. He'll present to the BuzzRobot community some of the papers that kick-started this wave of research, and the remaining unsolved challenges between that research and robots as part of daily life.
At the end of the talk, Alex will briefly discuss why he decided to switch from robotics to AI safety.
