Halloween Game Jam

​Calling all early builders on The Sandbox Studio, it's time to get spooky. The Sandbox Halloween Game Jam challenges you to build a creepy, scary, fun Halloween experience and put it in front of players, judges. Build it fun. Build it scary. Build it Sandbox.

​Think jump scares and Halloween thrills over deep mechanics. We're prioritizing fun, replayable gameplay and social, shareable moments that maximise viral impact and get your game more views and plays. Mobile compatibility is highly recommended, but not a requirement. Above all, we're looking for inventive ideas and standout use of The Sandbox Studio's tools.

• ​Winners Announced: Friday, Oct 30th

​$6,400 Total Prize Pool

• ​1st: $2,000 + $1,000 in ads to promote the game

• ​2nd: $1,500

• ​3rd: $1,000

• ​Special Prize – Best Scare: $300

  • ​For the most effective individual scare, whether it comes from surprise, suspense, discovery, or something completely unexpected

• ​Special Prize – Creepiest Character: $300

  • ​For the most unsettling, memorable, or disturbing character or creature

• ​Special Prize – Best Progression Loop: $300

  • ​For the most satisfying sense of growth through collecting, unlocking, upgrading, or working toward increasingly valuable rewards

• ​Special Prize – Best Opening: $300

  • ​For the game that hooks players quickly, gives the player something meaningful to do early, and creates a strong reason to keep playing beyond the opening moments

• ​Special Prize – Best Horror Atmosphere: $300

  • ​For the game that creates the strongest sustained sense of tension, dread, or unease. Audio plays a big role here!
