About Event

Discover the fascinating process of cultivating your own shiitake mushrooms on logs!
In this hands-on workshop, we’ll guide you through the essential first stages of mushroom cultivation – from selecting the right wood to inoculating and sealing your own log.

Together, we’ll:

  1. Select and prepare your logs – Learn how to choose and rest fresh hardwood logs to create the perfect environment for mycelium growth.

  2. Drill and pattern the holes – Follow a simple diamond pattern to prepare your log for inoculation.

  3. Inoculate with mushroom spawn and seal with wax – Bring the logs to life by introducing the mycelium and protecting it from drying out.

  4. Label your log – Mark the strain and date to follow your mushroom’s growth journey over time.

You’ll leave the workshop with your own inoculated mushroom log — ready to incubate at home until fruiting begins.
No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and clothes you don’t mind getting a little waxy!
