bedroom pop, session 1
For my birthday I'm inviting you to come get cozy so I can share a piece of music that is very close to me: "Goyescas" is a suite of 6 pieces written in 1911 by the Spanish composer Enrique Granados. This music is free-flowing, highly complex, and emotionally intense. I lack words to concisely describe it, but it requires a level of flexibility and control that I have only begun to unlock over the past 7 or 8 years. I will pass out program notes so that it is easier to follow and understand.
If sitting through 50 minutes of piano music sounds hard, feel free to bring a book or something to draw on. I will provide brownies and earplugs!
After the performance I'll need everyone to clear out pretty quickly so that my baby landlord can go to sleep. Maybe we can hang elsewhere, TBD
Accessibility info: I live with an anxious dog who barks a lot at new people but has never shown aggression. It's best to ignore her. There is a flight of stairs leading up to my bedroom. As far as seating, there is room for 4 people on a couch/futon, and I'll have floor cushions and additional chairs.
