About Event

Join TRASAL for the fifth episode of TRASAL Talks, featuring two luminaries of Indian literature in a conversation that spans mountains, memory, and the many voices that shape our literary inheritance.

Namita Gokhale is an award-winning novelist and co-founder of the iconic Jaipur Literature Festival, celebrated for promoting multilingual Indian literature and cross-cultural literary dialogue globally, and received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2021 for Things to Leave Behind. Malashri Lal is a distinguished scholar and author whose work has long championed the richness of Indian women's writing and literary tradition.

Together, they have co-edited two remarkable anthologies: The Whispering Mountains and Voices in the Wind —collections that gather mystical storytelling traditions of the Himalayas bringing together writers who might not otherwise share a page. In this conversation, Namita and Malashri will reflect on the vision behind these books, the writers they champion, and what it means to curate a literary landscape that is plural, expansive, and deeply rooted in place.

This is a rare opportunity to hear two of South Asian literature's most thoughtful and generous voices in conversation — about the books they have made, the writers they love, and the stories that still need to be told.

All are welcome. This is a free, open community event.

📅 Wednesday, June 17th
🕕 Time: TBD
