This month, come join Andrew Brownsword, a senior software developer researcher at Oracle labs, as he shares some valuable insights on software development that he has learned over the course of his career. The event will be in Room 211 on the second floor.
Discussion topic: Come prepared with your questions about … well, anything that you think Andrew might know something about or have an opinion worth hearing. Software development, programming languages, game development, GPUs, parallel programming, personal projects, etc.
Bio: Andrew Brownsword is a senior software developer researcher at Oracle Labs in Vancouver. He is presently the technical lead architect of an advanced cloud execution technology. Previously at Oracle Labs he lead a project using machine learning to tackle cloud security. Prior to his nearly 10 years at Oracle Labs, he spent a few years at Intel on HPC and highly parallel hardware related topics, and a couple of decades at Electronic Arts. He has also participated in the OpenCL specification committee, and using GPUs for interesting computations. In his personal time he has dabbled in reverse engineering and reprogramming engine management computers, as well as building a bespoke home automation system for his house.
