Pitch Practice | Nianhua - CliMap

​A Pitch Practice is a one-hour session where you can share feedback and advice with a Social Innovator on how to improve their pitching skills.

​While working as a geospatial analyst intern for the United Nations, 28-year-old Nianhua Liu saw how frequently complex climate data was misunderstood or misused when reproduced online. Dense reports and technical charts, hard for non-experts to understand, exacerbated the spread of climate misinformation.

​Realizing that “people weren’t the problem, the way we communicated was,” Nianhua founded Climap as part of his doctoral research project at the Technical University of Munich. Climap is an AI-powered platform that helps people turn complicated climate data into clear, trustworthy visuals. In a time when false information spreads fast, CliMap gives people the tools to share accurate data in ways that resonate with diverse audiences.

​Today, global institutions like the UN, IPCC, and FAO are deploying the Climap platform to create clear, audience-friendly maps to explain their work, and to stop their data from being misused.

​Nianhua is expanding Climap’s reach into communities most affected by climate change, and empowering those on the frontlines with clear, actionable information.
