About Event

The 2026 lipid guidelines changed a lot in primary prevention. New risk tools, new targets, new ways to rethink how you assess and treat the patients you see every day. So we’re bringing in a cardiologist to make sense of it.

Join Hippo Education for a one-hour session with Stanley Liu, MD, hosted by Neda Frayha, MD. The format’s simple: about 40 minutes of practical, plain-language discussion, then 20 minutes for your questions.

Here's what they’ll get into:

  • How the PREVENT risk score compares to the Pooled Cohort Equations

  • How PREVENT scores guide treatment decisions

  • How risk enhancers like family history, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and chronic inflammatory conditions affect cardiac risk

  • How Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) scoring can reclassify risk and guide statin initiation

  • How advanced biomarker testing helps you catch additional cardiovascular risk

Bring your questions to the live Q&A. This is your chance to ask a cardiologist directly!

Date: Wednesday, November 4, 2026
Time: 12 p.m. PT / 2 p.m. CT / 3 p.m. ET
Location: Zoom

Attend live to earn 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Can't make it? Register anyway. The session is recorded, and everyone who signs up gets the replay and a free printable reference resource.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Compare the differences between the Pooled Cohort Equations (PCE) and the PREVENT risk score.

  • Evaluate the outputs of the PREVENT tool to select the correct risk metric for treatment decisions.

  • Apply non-biomarker risk enhancers, such as family history, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and chronic inflammatory conditions, to personalize risk assessment for patients in borderline and intermediate risk tiers.

  • Apply Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) scoring thresholds to reclassify patient risk, guide statin initiation, and set explicit LDL-C treatment targets.

  • Utilize advanced lipid testing to identify residual cardiovascular risk and implement evidence-based strategies beyond standard panels.

AI tools were used in the development of this educational activity in accordance with the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education. All content has been human-reviewed and approved for accuracy and quality.

Some Hippo courses are designed to provide continuing education coursework that is intended to provide training needed to maintain or obtain additional licensing requirements for specialized training or for practitioners who already meet general licensing requirements.
