Living Room Lectures presents We Kissed God On The Dance Floor
Examining the neuroscience of clubbing as a medium for queer spiritual experience.
In this lecture, Alexander Dillabaugh examines one of queer culture's most enduring spaces of sanctuary: the dance floor. Drawing on neuroscience, psychology, and queer studies, he'll explore why a night of dancing with others can feel surprisingly similar to a religious experience.
Far from being just a lecture about nightlife, it's an exploration of why dance floors have become spaces of ritual, belonging, transcendence, and collective transformation.

Speaker
Alexander Dillabaugh holds a masters degree in clinical psychology from the University of Cambridge and dual bachelors degrees in Neurobiology, Physiology & Behavior, and Spanish from UC Davis. Building upon his previous work in behavioral health and homeless crisis services, he is now beginning a PhD in computational psychology investigating the relationship between trauma and psychosis.

Adam Nye is an event producer with a background in informal learning and community engagement across museums, schools, and cultural spaces.
Living Room Lectures builds community through learning and conversation. Each gathering features one guest giving a short lecture on a queer topic.
