1 Million Cups® Myrtle Beach I Anne Croom
Wake up and smell the coffee - 1 Million Cups® Myrtle Beach is brewing up something special! Join us for a morning packed with bold ideas, fresh faces, and plenty of caffeine. Whether you’re a founder, a dreamer, or just someone who loves a good story, you’ll find inspiration (and maybe your next big connection) over a cup or two.
We’re excited to spotlight Anne Croom, who is exploring a practical solution to two challenges within our school systems: teacher support and student workforce readiness. Her initiative focuses on creating structured, paid internship pathways within schools that both assist educators in the classroom and help students transition more effectively into employment after graduation.
Many schools are stretched thin, with teachers managing increasing workloads and limited resources. At the same time, students often graduate without meaningful work experience or exposure to professional environments. Anne’s idea aims to address both issues by designing internship programs that provide hands-on experience for students while offering tangible support to teachers and school staff.
By building a bridge between education and employment inside the school system itself, this concept has the potential to strengthen classroom capacity, improve student preparedness, and create clearer pathways from graduation to the workforce.
At this week’s 1 Million Cups Myrtle Beach, Anne will share her vision for developing paid internships within schools, the early challenges of moving from idea to implementation, and how community partners can play a role in turning this concept into a sustainable model.
