What Makes a Neighborhood Livable: The Systems we Stand On

​Are you really aware of the myriad things your lifestyle depends on?

​Modern urban life is filled with systems, people, and processes that quietly support our everyday existence while remaining largely out of sight.

​Food arrives stocked on shelves, water flows from taps, packages appear at our doors, streets are cleaned, power stays on, and neighborhoods maintain their character through layers of visible and invisible coordination.

​Over time, many of these underlying relationships have faded into the background of daily awareness, even though our lives remain deeply dependent on them.

​In this session, we’ll explore the question: what actually makes our neighborhoods livable, through guided mapping exercises and interactive sessions.

​Together, we’ll reflect on what becomes visible when we stop taking our surroundings for granted. The goal is not simply to map physical spaces, but to cultivate a deeper awareness of the networks of dependency, care, labor, and responsibility that quietly sustain our communities.
