About Event
Connecting Lineages is a hands-on, two-hour deep dive for genealogy researchers ready to go further, whether you're a longtime researcher or just getting started. Building on Finding Your Ancestors, we'll cover the basics before diving into research, guided by genealogist Oceana James, Vice President of the Afro-American Genealogical and Historical Society of NY. Bring a name, place, or timeline you want to explore, and work through it in real time alongside community. We'll also discuss the importance of self-oral history, writing down and preserving our own stories as part of the record. Wherever you're starting from, you'll leave with new tools, sources, stories, and strategies.
